Connecticut residents have access to eight major live music events scheduled for November, anchored by the return of Metallica to the state after a 28 year absence.
The heavy metal band will perform at Mohegan Sun Arena on Nov. 19 and Nov. 21. These two nights constitute the band's sole U.S. tour dates for the current year, excluding their residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas. The venue is celebrating its 25th anniversary with the shows, which have not been staged in the state since 1998.
Ticket prices for the Metallica concerts begin at $595.95. The high cost reflects the rarity of the dates, as the band has not played in Connecticut in nearly three decades.
Other acts on the November calendar include a folk supergroup and a vaudeville performance. Puss in Boots, a collective featuring Norah Jones, Sasha Dobson, and Catherine Popper, will hold a rare concert at Infinity Music Hall in Norfolk on Nov. 7. Tickets for that show are priced at $76.80.
On the same date, bluegrass group Punch Brothers, led by mandolinist Chris Thile, will perform at the Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Connecticut. Tickets for the Punch Brothers start at $55. Emo rock band Hot Mulligan will also play College Street Music Hall in New Haven on Nov. 7, supported by One Step Closer, Riley! and Wakelee, with tickets starting at $53.96.
Hip hop artist Chief Keef is scheduled for Nov. 4 at The Dome at Toyota Oakdale Theatre, with tickets starting at $59.50. Comedian John C. Reilly will perform a vaudeville show as Mister Romantic at Ridgefield Playhouse on Nov. 18, backed by Grammy winning musicians. Tickets for that event start at $100.
Local jam band Eggy will play Toad's Place on Thanksgiving Eve, Nov. 25, with tickets from $35.60. The Temptations, led by original member Otis Williams, will close the month at Premier Theater at Foxwoods Resort Casino on Nov. 28, performing hits such as My Girl and Papa Was a Rolling Stone. Tickets for the Motown act start at $84.75.
