Sebastian Croft and Romesh Ranganathan defeated the opposing team in the season two finale of The Celebrity Traitors. The two Faithfuls secured the victory after Traitors King Kenny and Maya Jama were removed from the game during a final showdown on the BBC iPlayer stream.

The outcome reversed the trajectory established by the previous episode. James Acaster revealed his status as a Traitor during a roundtable discussion, ending a dominant streak for the dark side. Maya Jama subsequently confessed to her role after Faithful Michael Sheen deduced the correct answer.

The narrative shift created a complex ending for the remaining players. James Blunt, who had expressed strong certainty regarding the identity of the Traitors, was evicted despite being a Faithful. His confident predictions at the roundtable proved partially incorrect, a factor that likely contributed to his elimination.

The second season concluded with a win for the side that had appeared less favored. This result contrasts with the first season, which is widely remembered for Alan Carr’s unexpected victory as a Traitor. That previous campaign also featured a memorable moment involving Faithful Celia Imrie.

The dynamic of the second season was disrupted by early revelations. Richard E. Grant admitted he was a Traitor immediately after being selected for the role. His quick departure initiated a sequence of events that proved difficult for the show to recover from throughout the season.

Recruitment efforts for the Traitors faced structural hurdles. James Acaster accepted the role under pressure from Grant and Jama to avoid elimination. His reluctance to fully commit to the role limited the effectiveness of the Traitor team. Later, Professor Hannah Fry was recruited, but she had limited strategic options because only she and Jerry Hall remained eligible for elimination that night.

The season drew a large audience despite the uneven pacing. The finale attracted 15 million viewers, a figure that typically accompanies major national events such as royal weddings or international football finals in the United Kingdom.

The results suggest specific constraints within the show’s format. The early removal of obvious Traitors highlighted a recurring issue where replacement players are introduced, potentially diluting the tension. The producers may consider keeping high-profile candidates in the game longer to maintain audience engagement.
