Savannah Guthrie used a social media post on Sunday to ask the public for help locating her mother, Nancy Guthrie, who has been missing for nine months. The 84-year-old was taken from her home in Tucson, Arizona, and Guthrie shared an image of a drawing by her young daughter to accompany her plea. The artwork depicts a blue umbrella amidst raindrops, with a caption that reads, “I know it might not seem like it but I really need my mommy.”
Guthrie stated that the child’s drawing reflects her own feelings about the situation. She addressed her immediate family by name, including Annie, Tommy, Cam, Kristine, and Mike, noting that they are all crying out for answers. “We need someone to help us, tell us what you know,” she wrote. The family described their pain in the post, saying they cannot move forward without information on Nancy Guthrie’s whereabouts.
Nancy Guthrie was reported missing on Feb. 1, 2026. Authorities indicated that the crime involved a ransom demand. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has led the investigation with assistance from the FBI. In July, investigators noted that a hair found at the home did not lead to a suspect after testing. A task force remains active in the case, recently traveling to Florida to consult with lab scientists on further evidence analysis.
Guthrie described her mother as a light in the world and expressed a desire to give her the dignity of a resolution. She reminded the public that a reward for information remains available. The co-host concluded her message with a direct request for assistance from anyone with knowledge of the case.
The investigation continues as the task force pursues leads to find Nancy Guthrie and any suspects involved in the kidnapping.
