Trump Cites 12-Point Poll Surge in Ohio After Praising Husted's Physique
The president claims his comments about the senator's body caused a dramatic shift in support, though current polling data shows a tighter race with no such spike.

The White House released a new video on Wednesday showing the president in the Oval Office discussing the physical attributes of Sen. Jon Husted. In the clip, Trump stated that he informed the public that Husted has a great ass. He described the senator’s rear as a very powerful asset and also praised his shoulders, hands, and arms. The president claimed that this specific announcement caused Husted to jump 12 points in the ratings.
Husted is currently in a tight contest against former Sen. Sherrod Brown. Brown holds a slight edge in the latest available polls. The data does not show the sudden and dramatic swing that the president suggests. The 12-point figure the president cited is not reflected in the current polling numbers for the Ohio race.
The comments follow a rally last week where the president first brought up the senator’s physique. At that event, Trump said Husted’s ass was like a pile of muscle. He has mentioned the topic repeatedly since that rally. A CNN segment by Anderson Cooper recently compiled a video of the president making similar comments about the body parts of other men.
The praise for Husted stands in contrast to the president’s recent remarks about Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. Paxton is the president’s hand-picked Senate candidate in Texas. Trump recalled telling Paxton that he was unsure if he liked his look, his dress, or his way of talking. Despite these criticisms, the president has consistently praised Paxton for his loyalty.
The Ohio Senate race remains a key contest in the current election cycle. Both candidates are vying for the seat as polls show a narrow margin of victory. The president’s continued commentary on the candidates' personal appearances adds a new dimension to the campaign coverage.
