Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy declared the humanitarian operation in Russian-occupied Oleshky complete on Friday. He stated that all evacuated Ukrainian citizens have crossed the border into Ukraine in Chernihiv Oblast.

A temporary ceasefire on the Kherson front facilitated the mission. During the truce, roadways leading to Oleshky were cleared of mines. Aid reached the city, and residents requiring assistance were moved from Oleshky and the adjacent An hromada.

Zelenskyy confirmed the status of the evacuees in a social media post. "As of now, Ukrainian citizens from Oleshky have crossed the Ukrainian border in the Chernihiv region. All of them will receive the assistance they need," he wrote.

The final phase of the evacuation involved four aircraft. The last plane landed in Homiel, Belarus, on the morning of October 31. The president urged government agencies and local authorities to assist the evacuees as they settle into their new surroundings.

Zelenskyy thanked the United States and First Lady Melania Trump for their mediation efforts. He also credited the defense forces for providing security and Human Rights Commissioner Dmytro Lubinets and his team for executing the mission. The president expressed hope for continued humanitarian access to the occupied territory.
