Florida Midterms: Trump heads to Daytona Beach to rally GOP
The President will campaign for Byron Donalds and other Republicans in a state where voluntary redistricting has altered the House map.

President Donald Trump is scheduled to campaign in Daytona Beach, Florida, on Friday. The stop marks a late-stage entry into his midterm tour, where he will support Republican gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds.
Donalds faces David Jolly, a former Republican congressman who switched parties to run as the Democratic nominee. While polls indicate Donalds holds a lead, the race remains competitive. This contrast with 2022 is stark, when incumbent Ron DeSantis won reelection by nearly 20 points.
The political context has shifted due to recent redistricting efforts. Florida voluntarily redrew its congressional map ahead of these midterms. Republicans currently occupy 20 of the state's 28 House seats. The new lines may allow that number to increase if the party maintains or gains ground in key districts.
Trump will also target congressional races in the region. He is expected to support Sen. Ashley Moody, who seeks to retain her Senate seat in a special election. Moody faces state Rep. Angie Nixon. DeSantis appointed Moody to the Senate in 2025 after Marco Rubio departed to become Secretary of State.
The president will also stump for Rep. Randy Fine, a freshman representing the district that includes Daytona Beach. Fine took office in April 2025 following a special election. He replaced Mike Waltz, who left the House to serve as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.
