Florida Politics: Trump heads to Daytona Beach for final push
The president will campaign for Byron Donalds and congressional candidates in a state that recently redrew its district lines.

Voters in Florida will see President Donald Trump in person this Friday. He plans to hold a campaign event in Daytona Beach as his midterm tour enters its closing phase.
The main focus of the trip is the governor's race. Trump will support Byron Donalds, a Republican representative and close ally. Donalds faces David Jolly, a former Republican congressman who switched to the Democratic Party. Polls show Donalds leading, but the gap is small enough to keep the contest competitive. This stands in contrast to 2022, when Ron DeSantis won reelection by almost 20 points.
Trump is also expected to endorse several congressional candidates. Senator Ashley Moody is running in a special election to retain her seat for two more years. She is challenging state representative Angie Nixon. DeSantis placed Moody in the Senate in 2025 after Marco Rubio moved to the State Department.
The Daytona Beach area also includes the district of Representative Randy Fine. Fine is a recent addition to the House, having taken office in April 2025. He won a special election to replace Mike Waltz, who became the United Nations ambassador.
Florida officials recently redrew congressional district lines. Republicans currently hold 20 of the 28 House seats in the state. The new map may allow that number to grow before the midterms.
