U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville has raised nearly $11 million more than his Democratic opponent, Doug Jones, for the Alabama governor's race. This financial advantage stands out in filings submitted to the Alabama Secretary of State through Oct. 27, 2026. Tuberville has accumulated about $17.7 million in total contributions. Jones has raised more than $6.7 million.
The two campaigns rely on very different donor structures. Donors who gave $5,000 or more account for 87% of Tuberville's funds. Approximately 40 of those donors contributed $100,000 or more each. In contrast, large gifts make up only about 19% of Jones' money. No donor to the Jones campaign has given $100,000 or more. About 40% of Jones' contributions come in gifts of $100 or less.
Businesses and political action committees play a major role in Tuberville's fundraising. These groups provided roughly 49% of his total funds. Individual donors supplied the other half. For Jones, individual donors provided about 98% of his money. Businesses and PACs together accounted for only 2% of his contributions.
A surge in PAC support occurred in the final week of the reporting period. Four PACs gave $350,000 in cash to Tuberville between Oct. 26 and 27. Tiger Paw PAC provided $150,000. The Alabama Builders PAC gave $100,000. The Alabama Medical PAC contributed $75,000, and Nucor's PAC gave $25,000. ProgressPAC also paid $229,883 for a mailer and advertising supporting Tuberville. Jones' campaign reported two PAC gifts totaling $1,100 in filings from Oct. 25 through 27.
Most money for both candidates originates from within Alabama. Approximately 80% of each candidate's itemized funds come from in-state donors. Jones received $3.88 million from Alabama and $985,746 from out of state. Tuberville received $13.9 million from Alabama and $3.3 million from out of state. Birmingham is the top fundraising city for both campaigns. Donors there have given Tuberville $2.4 million and Jones $1.46 million.
Spending patterns show a heavy concentration on a single media vendor for each side. Tuberville's campaign has spent more than $15.1 million since May 2025. About $8.6 million went to Go Big Media LLC of Washington, D.C. Jones has spent more than $6.2 million. Fifty-two percent of that total went to Lever Communications. When payments to its affiliate, Joe Trippi and Associates, are included, that figure rises to 54%.
The bulk of spending for both campaigns took place in September and October. These two months account for about $10 million of Tuberville's spending and about $4 million of Jones' spending. Tuberville's campaign averaged about $362,000 a month from January through August 2026. It then spent $4.1 million in September and $5.9 million in October. Jones' campaign averaged about $277,000 a month in the first eight months, then spent more than $1.4 million in September and more than $2.5 million in October.
Tuberville currently holds about $2.2 million in cash on hand. Jones holds about $508,461. Voters can review every contribution on the Secretary of State's campaign finance website.
