Dylan Dietrich defeated No. 5 seed Liam Draxl of Canada on Sunday to win the MarketBeat Open in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The final score was 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 in favor of the 22-year-old native of Zurich. This victory marked Dietrich's second consecutive title on the ATP Challenger Tour.

The win extends Dietrich's winning streak to 10 matches. Since July 20, when he was ranked No. 556, he has compiled an 18-3 record across five tournaments. As a result of the Sioux Falls final, Dietrich entered the ATP Top 200 for the first time. His ranking jumped 67 spots to No. 187, moving him from No. 254.

Dietrich, a senior at the University of Virginia, is currently the No. 1 ranked collegiate player. He secured his first Challenger title in Columbus on Oct. 4. During the week in Sioux Falls, he won 10 of the 11 sets he played. In the final, he was broken twice in the opening set but held serve in all 10 service games during the second and third sets.

Draxl, who played college tennis at the University of Kentucky, faced a third consecutive three-set match. He was broken in the sixth game of the second set and the seventh game of the third set, which determined the outcome of both. Before the final, Draxl defeated No. 3 seed Darwin Blanch in the quarterfinals and qualifier Sebastian Dominko in the semifinals. He saved two match points in that semifinal contest.

The result continues a three-year trend of college-affiliated players meeting in the Sioux Falls final. In 2024, Borna Gojo of Wake Forest beat Colton Smith of Arizona. Last year, Patrick Kypson of Texas A&M defeated Johannus Monday of Tennessee. Draxl will compete for Canada's Davis Cup team against Czechia on Nov. 24. He also improved his PIF ATP ranking from No. 194 to No. 166.

Dietrich had not reached a Challenger final before this season. He recorded his first such appearance in Columbus in early October. The MarketBeat Open remains a key event for rising players in the region. Dietrich's performance in the final sets, where he faced only one break point, solidified his momentum heading into the next tour stops.
