Hendrickson Park secured its 61st district championship in Texas high school football history on Friday at Highlander Stadium. The Scots defeated Birdville, 48-31, to claim the District 6-5A title and extend their record as the most decorated program in the state's high school football history. The victory marked the final regular season game for the team's senior class.

Quarterback Buck Randall led the offensive effort, completing 24 of 31 passes for 376 yards and four touchdowns. He also rushed for 86 yards on 10 carries and added a touchdown run. Evan Snelleman contributed nine receptions for 103 yards and one score, while Beckett Lawrence recorded 130 receiving yards, the highest total for Hendrickson Park in the game. Defensive tackle Nick Van Der Westhuizen added a 6-yard touchdown reception.

The match began with Birdville establishing a 3-0 lead early in the first quarter. Hendrickson Park responded to take a 21-10 advantage at the halftime break. The Scots extended their lead in the second half, maintaining control of the game throughout the third and fourth quarters. The final score reflected a 17-point margin of victory.

Randy Allen, the head coach at Hendrickson Park, noted the dual significance of the event for the upperclassmen. “Senior night is always a special night,” Allen said. “It’s the last regular season game for them, and I want them to have fun. I always enjoy them getting to take their picture and this year it’s with the trophy. It’s a great night.” Allen credited the offensive line and receiving corps for their execution, while acknowledging the strength of the opposing offense.

Caiden Reeves broke the scoring deadlock early in the second quarter with a 17-yard touchdown run. James Axley later caught a 17-yard touchdown pass to put Hendrickson Park ahead 14-10. Allen specifically highlighted the play that resulted in Van Der Westhuizen’s first career touchdown reception in the third quarter. “We’ve been hanging on to that play,” Allen said. “I didn’t want to waste it. I knew it would be there when we ran it, and it wasn’t an easy catch, either.”

Zach Wells of Birdville threw two touchdown passes to Emmett Webb, who caught seven passes for 119 yards. Wells also ran for two touchdowns. Despite the individual performances, the Hawks could not overcome the 11-point deficit they faced at halftime. Webb’s 119 receiving yards represented the leading total for Birdville in the contest.

Hendrickson Park will attempt to achieve a sixth consecutive win on Thursday at 7 p.m. The team will face Carrollton Newman Smith at Standridge Stadium. Allen indicated that the shortened preparation period offers a potential strategic advantage. “So, we’ll have one less day to prepare, but we’ll maybe be able to see our playoff opponent on Friday and scout them,” Allen said.
