Two people sustained non-life-threatening injuries in a stabbing that occurred just after 11:15 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, in Sioux Falls. The incident took place in the vicinity of Eighth Street and Indiana Avenue, east of the downtown core. Local law enforcement responded to a report of a stabbing and found the victims at the scene.

Sgt. Aaron Benson stated that a 33-year-old man called police to report a dispute. The victim described the suspect as a male wearing black clothing who fled in a gray SUV. First responders discovered a second individual at the location, whom police believe was also stabbed by the same person. Both victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment.

Officers later identified a vehicle matching the description of the gray SUV at a home near West 12th Street and Melrose Place. This location sits nearly five miles west of the initial crime scene. Benson confirmed that all involved parties have been identified and located. The investigation into the incident continues.

Online rumors suggested a sheriff’s deputy was among the injured. Benson corrected this information, noting it was not provided by law enforcement. He explained that the claim likely stemmed from misinterpreted scanner traffic. The post was shared on social media before it was verified through official channels.
